Swimming lessons and more…

Parent & child classes

Swim4 baby and toddler classes are designed for fun and gentle progression throughout a term, but we will work at your little one’s pace, adapting activities so you can build confidence together.

Children’s group lessons

We take children for group lessons from 3 years upwards and offer them a class where they are carefully matched to other children of a similar age and ability, helping them to feel more at ease, more quickly.

Adult’s lessons

Our adult swimming lessons are suitable for all ages and abilities. We will cater the instruction to suit each pupil, so it’s like having a 1.2.1 within a group class.

Aqua aerobics

Aqua is a great way to have fun whilst exercising. The water is 800x denser than air so you are working harder with every movement. Our Aqua Aerobics classes will be back soon!

Children’s University

Swim4 has been approved as an official Children’s University Learning Destination, meaning we have met the accreditation process and can stamp your child’s ‘Passport to Learning’ for each lesson they attend.

We deliver swimming teacher qualification courses for the STA so are able to support and train anyone wishing to take the plunge and become a swimming teacher. We can also deliver Swim England qualifications for approved centres.

Frequently Asked Questions

You may have some questions for us. Here are a few we get asked regularly.

For further detail, and before booking in, please see our Terms and Conditions.

How do I book my child in?

In the first instance, please complete the contact form to send us a message, email or phone us using the contact details above. We will shortly have a new online booking system, but for now, we will take your child's details - age, ability, previous experience, availability for lessons etc and then let you know what suitable spaces we have available.

Can my child wear googles?

We do not mind goggles being worn in lessons, however if they cause a nuisance and waste time, we would encourage children to not use them. Parents should be aware of the disadvantages of using goggles when learning to swim. Read more here

Can we watch the lessons?

Yes, at all locations we have exclusive use of the pool during our lessons and poolside seating for parents. We encourage you to watch your child's lessons so you can enjoy their progression.

Is there a waiting list?

Unfortunately we do have a waiting list for almost all of our lessons. By providing us with detailed description of your child's ability and past experience, we are able to review any existing spaces and see if there's a good fit or not.

How do we pay?

We use a system called GoCardless to take payments for lessons. This is a one-off Direct Debit payment. We send you a link at the start of every term for you to pay online. Payment is due for the whole term, in advance.

Are teachers qualified?

All Swim4 swimming teachers hold the necessary qualifications from either the Swimming Teacher’s Association (STA) or Swim England (previously the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA)).

What should my child bring?

All swimmers must be in suitable swimwear for lessons, no bikini's or board shorts please. We will supply equipment, but if your child is used to wearing a particular buoyancy aid, please bring that with you.

Do they need to wear a swimming hat?

We do not insist children wear a swimming hat, however, they are very useful for keeping hair out of the face when swimming, so if your child is happy to wear one, then please do.

What time should we arrive?

Please arrive at least five minutes before the start of the lesson to ensure suitable time for changing and applying hats/goggles. There are no breaks inbetween lessons, they run back to back.

What time should we arrive?

Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before your child's lesson starts to allow time for changing and toilet break.

Can I take photos?

Due to child protection, we do not allow parents or spectators to take any photos or videos of children during lessons in the pool, changing rooms or any of the nearby areas.

I have more questions...

Please do get in touch with one of the team using the contact form or the details above if you have any other questions you would like to ask.
